UMC was the first mobile operator in Ukraine. The call from a mobile phone sounded in the company’s network on July 1, 1993, and today UMC provides for subscribers an opportunity to communicate within the territory where 99 percent of population of Ukraine resides. UMC serves more than 20 million subscribers.

 

Having initiated in July, 2005 the program "Quality Above All!," we concentrate our efforts on improvement of the quality of services and servicing. Year 2006 has been declared by the company the "Year of the Radio Network." since the quality of communication and services is the main priority for UMC. Major capital investments of UMC are directed to increasing capacity, expansion of coverage and optimization of the network, development of innovative services and improvement of the quality of subscriber servicing.

 

From the beginning of it activity, UMC year after year has paid more and more attention to social responsibility in Ukrainian society, where the company adheres to principles of openness, honesty and transparency.

 

UMC’s social responsibility program provides support for orphans’ homes and hospitals, assistance for social integration of invalids and veterans, support of children's and family amateur sports and sports activities for invalids. UMC will further expand cooperation with students of profile higher educational institutions of the country and will contribute to development of Ukrainian publishing businesses. The company will actively engage in cultural actions, having the old tradition of supporting Ukrainian art and children's creativity. UMC is the General Sponsor of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and the Mobile Operator of the Olympic Team of Ukraine.

 

In 2005, UMC was named one of the best companies of Ukraine (ТОП 100, Investgazeta), the most effective brand of Ukraine (Gvardija 500, Kontrakty), the inspiring company (Companies which inspire, Komp&nion) and the best employer of Ukraine (Delovoy Zhurnal). By results of the International Festival Competition «Choice of the Year», UMC was chosen as the «Mobile Communication Operator of 2005 in Ukraine».
