Recently, more and more UMC subscribers are reporting attacks by mobile swindlers. The most vulnerable group is pre-paid SIM-SIM subscribers. Swindlers use different plots, but the they usually present themselves as operators, and ask for voucher fill-in codes.
-
Here is one possible scenario: a subscriber gets a call from a usual UMC number and is informed about some kind of a prize (free calls, a new or state-of-the-art telephone, or other "prizes"). Then, the subscriber is asked to call the "operator" back at the number from which the call has been made. The subscriber calls the number (sometimes it is difficult to get through, which only strengthens the subscriber's belief in the prize). Further, the "operator" offers the subscriber a voucher for filling the account (usually, the highest requests are for 120 and 240 UAH). The subscriber buys a voucher and calls the "operator" again. The "operator" asks the subscriber to read any three numbers from the fill-in code, then happily says that one of the numbers is a winner, and that the subscriber has "won" a new telephone. To fill in the account for such a telephone, the "operator" asks to disclose the entire "voucher fill-in code/" Then the subscriber is told that he or she can pick up the phone at any dealer shop after paying applicable taxes.
-
This is an official statement that UMC does not organize and will never organize games where subscribers are asked to disclose voucher fill-in codes.
-
We ask our subscriber to be careful and not disclose their personal information to other people. To avoid swindles, please follow the rules below:
-

-
Pay attention to numbers from which you get calls on behalf of UMC. Remember that swindlers use different methods to win subscribers' trust. UMC and its representatives may call subscribers, but only to inform them of new services and offers. Also remember that UMC operators are always ready to provide you with any information immediately. UMC operators may ask that you call them for additional information, but only to the Subscriber Contact Center numbers that are free for UMC subscribers.
